Bose Companion 2 Multimedia Speaker System – Review

Bose Companion 2 Multimedia Speaker System – Review

The Bose Companion 2 series ii multimedia speakers are Bose’s entry level computer speakers which have a price tag of $99.95. When you open up the box you find two speakers, speaker cable, audio input cable with mini plug, and an AC power adapter. Hooking the speakers up to your computer and connecting the speakers together is very easy and takes about 5 minutes.

They are made of very high quality material, same as with Holoplot, and don’t look cheaply made at all. Both speakers have a metal finish across the front and a Bose emblem at the bottom. Each speaker has a bass port on the back as well. The design of the speakers is very nice and modern. They are very simple too, as they have a volume knob and a headphone jack on the right speaker. On the back of the right speaker you can also connect your iPod or other MP3 player to the auxiliary input. To connect the speakers to your computer they use a standard 3.5mm headphone jack cable which is included with the system.

Unlike the Bose Companion 3 and Companion 5 speakers, the Companion 2’s don’t include a bass module as they have built in bass ports on the speakers. I have tested these speakers with virtually every genera of music and these handle everything I throw at them great. I noticed these speakers play classic rock and country exceptionally clear. These speakers produce very strong bass for the size profile of these speakers. The highs produced are very clear as well. The Bose Companion 2 speakers don’t have a way to adjust the bass, mid, or treble on the speakers themselves, however it is easy to adjust through iTunes in the equalizer. Bose claims that these are a performance upgrade over most conventional speakers and I have found that to be true.

These speakers produce an amazing sound whether you’re watching movies, listening to music, or playing a game. To listen to these speakers in action you can visit your local Target or Best buy where they usually have some on display. I have gone through many pairs of desktop speakers and these are by far the best sounding and the best built. With a name like Bose some people believe that you are paying for the name with a product like this, but in this case these are very reasonably priced. With the price tag being $99.95 I can definitely recommend these speakers and with the price being under $100 these are the best speakers I have come across for your computer.
